removing some redundant ads
As it has been well over 2 years since anything has happened here, there are lots of dead links and links to ad sites etc. So i am on a big clean up which means more free space is available!

Over 100 Thousand clicks!
Hello!! Well after quite a long hiatus I have decided to re-open the free pixels. So if you like you can head over to the Free pixels page and have a read.

Also i was just checking the Clicks page and did the sums to find out that I have sent out over 100 Thousand referrals! 104682 to be exact! wow!

been long enough! still getting heaps of hits.

will sort out something so i can take requests again. it was getting out of control with more than 50 a day i couldnt keep up.

had a few minor set backs... busy and nowhere near PC's for the last week.

will get to all the built up ones this weekend.

if you sent me an image that is not divisable by ten i will not be uplaoding it. as it is far too time consuming for me to resize them all.

hi there!

still plodding away here uploading things... i decided not to implement the user upload feature so i can still moderate what is actually going up here better.

not that i have declined any yet anyway. only ones with no images or unreasonably large ones.

which brings me to another point.

please don't just send me huge banners or logos. i will stop resizing them cos its getting out of hand and takes up quite a lot of time.

multiples of 10 and no bigger than what you see on the page already!

UP TO DATE!!!
omg what a marathon uploading session that was!!

I am now up to date on all the pixel requests.

I now have over 150 sites up on the main page with over 10,000 clicks all up!! sweet!

Traffic is averaging around 300 unique visits a day now. and increasing all the time.

now time to do... something else.

Hi there!

Been a bit slow on the updates altely as im still settling in to the new house and its been quite busy in general around here.

Today saw a massive surge in traffic from somewhere which is rad.

Going to be away fro the xmas break so wont see me again for a few days... keep those pixel orders coming tho as its all still going strong!

im finally almost all done moving house!! still no internet access at home so have to do it all from work at the moment.

I have added all the new requests for ads now.

Its interesting to see how traffic drops a bit while not updating the site daily. I'll get it back on track tho. cos im hard.

Alex Tew's US press tour
As mentioned on Alex's blog http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/blog.php he is off to the US for a bit of a publicity tour.

What will this mean for other pixel sites? Already there are thousands of people actively searching for pixel sites. I get the most visitors from google. Maybe this will boost the people looking for pixel advertising quite significantly and will be good for all.

We shall find out.

my pixel page is bigger than your pixel page
So I originally saw this as a possible money making scheme and thought i’d give it a crack. I quickly realised that there was pretty much no hope for anyone other than the original site and Alex Tew to make any sort of decent money, so I decided to just give away the pixels and see how I go at getting traffic. Although I would like to stay optimistic :P

I monitor a few sites and i get regular emails with peeps updating me on who is the top referrer for who and who has what amount of traffic and so on. I would hazard a guess that the people doing most of the visiting are other pixel page owners checking up on what the competition is up to.

Let’s take a look at the top ten according to Alexa.


(Shouts to Byron at www.rentapatch.com for the image I blatantly flogged, Byron is a champ by the way so go there and get more free ad space, have to be quick though as of writing this he has 1289 spots left.)



Of these who is making money?



milliondollarhomepage.com - yup, car loads.

millionquarterwebpage.com - well they might have made 70k by the looks of things. No way of telling how much of that was given away but they seem to be doing alright. got in early I think

thepixelwars.com - this is a pixel directory of sorts so they are getting all their traffic from pixel nerds. They do have ad space up the top but looks like they are making minimal money from it.

millionpixelpage.com - These German dudes have a premium and a free area. As expected from such a highly ranked site the free area is packed. The premium are has around 30ish ads on it. I can’t be bothered figuring that out but it’s a little bit of money made from ads.

They also have the PHP Million Script for sale for $149 USD. I’ve seen a few sites pop up using this and it goes alright, lots of features etc. Pricey though and I expect this is where they are making all their money other than Google Adsense.

millionpennyhomepage.com – Also got in early and seem to be making a tad. Although they only had a target of 10 grand. They have made over $8,000 so far.

milliondollarwebpage.com – They have a Buy, Win or Try thing going on. You can try it out for 30 days to see how it goes. Not a bad idea I guess. They have a good amount of ads there which all have had quite a number of clicks. Good site.

pixelbay.org – This site is run by this InTouch Media Group. Looks to have made nearly 90 grand. They apparently know what’s going on in regard to internet marketing and search engine optimastion (SEO). They do rate themselves quite highly by the looks of it. One to keep an eye on.

powerofpixels.com – I haven’t actually looked at this one until now. They are running The Daily "HOT BLOCK" competition in which if you click on the “Hot Block” you get a prize. The rest of the site looks ok. Not many ads up there.

pixelsanyone.com – Another site run by a large internet advertising crowd, JPE Advertising. They have made quite a bit of cash by the looks of it nearly 40 grand. Again its impossible to know how much of that has actually been sold and what has been given away for one reason or another. For how much they big themselves up i reckon they should have sold more.

250000.org – These guys are doing $5 a box which is around 1 cent per pixel. Quite a few sold.

As you can tell I am getting sick of reviewing sites. Haha.

So after that pointless little exercise what have i learned? EDIT: SEX SELLS Hmm. i dont know. maybe that that there must be a crap load of websites out there that NEVER get looked at for all these silly pixel sites to have such high rankings. :P I’ll have to get back to you. After I’ve had a bit of sleep. (Big weekend)

I do know this though. No one is going to make any money off selling a whole page of pixels anymore. This thing was just a one off. A brilliant idea to get rich fast off the internet. The future of pixel ads probably lies in something like the size of banner ads at the top of sites with large traffic, like internetvibes. Or something.

And where is this little site you might ask? Number 92. that’s right. I was the second Australian site up. www.milliondollarhomepage.com.au has sold 400 to 1 advertiser. The other new guy will be lucky to sell anything unless he has some sort of crazy idea.

I have more ads than most of them. Who knows how they are marketing their sites, some of them are ridiculous. This is all new to me. I haven’t spent any money on that yet and im hoping I wont have to. I think they are all viral emails (which I hate so don’t want anything to do with) and banner ads of some sort.

Anyway!! Im going to bed. In the meantime keep sending me emails. I am working on the auto upload feature still.

Hi there. nearly 60 ads up now. and i have a sore back. i think my bed is dead finally. Maybe i can make some cash of the site soon and buy a new one! hahaha.

Anyway. Keep sending them in. But if you could please make sure the logo is a reasonable size and divisable by 10. I have had to resize quite a few of them and it takes up a heap of time and they even start looking rather terrible when they are small. So if you want it to look good and stand out, make sure it looks good small before you send it to me!

Million Dollar Pixel Page progress report

BAM!

yesterday was the hugest traffic day so far!

Got those google adsense ads on the left there now. sometimes they display correctly sometimes they are public service ads. i think its cos they are new and havent quite sussed out the site yet. But it could be cos the site is all funky PHP trickery. Will see how they turn out.

Also trying out Traffic Swarm to see how it helps with promoting the site. You can see the ads down the bottom. They arent too bad really and are out of the way mostly so as not to annoy anyone.

design is tough
so my design skills have not improved since the last time i attempted to make a website. So bare with me as i work out a few things!

Traffic is steady now and ive been madly submitting the site to search engines and top sites pages so we should see it pick up quite a bit.

still giving away the ad space so get on it and tell your friends!
